Dr. Cheri Hansen was born and raised in a small town north of Chicago, in an area called the Chain of Lakes.
She received her veterinary training at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, and eventually was drawn to the beauty and culture of New Orleans.
Although much of her emphasis in school focused on zoologic medicine, including studies on alligators and manatees, Dr. Hansen’s true fascination circled back to regular family pets. She believes that the opportunity to help dogs and cats is a privilege, especially given all the joy they bring to us. Pain management and attention to quality of life throughout all phases are mainstays of her interest.
Her personal time is spent hanging out with her husband Charles and her shelter-rescue pit mix Maisy. She is a nerdy bookworm and is happiest when lost in a novel on the porch hammock or experimenting with new vegan recipes.
